The unplanned expat blogger behind SerbalKinLurinAv

Hello, I am Sofia
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Madrid, Spain.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built SerbalKinLurinAv
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Spain.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Just a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain goes on, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sofia
